WHAT IS META?
Meta Platforms, Inc. is a multinational technology company that builds technologies to connect people through its "Family of Apps" (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads). Owned by Mark Zuckerberg, the company has expanded its reach to different apps used globally.
The company is also heavily investing in artificial intelligence (AI) and developing the "metaverse," an interconnected digital ecosystem spanning virtual and augmented reality experiences. The company has recently produced (in collaboration with RayBans) glasses that can capture pictures, videos, play music, etc. Most notably, Meta produced the Meta Display + Neural Band; an older brother to the previous models, with an addition of a full AI-powered display in the lens.
WHAT ARE WE INNOVATING?
The Meta x RayBans Display has been a major talking piece in the tech and product world. What once seemed to be science-fiction, has now become a reality.
The Meta Display is a pair of glasses that has been heavily modified, equipped with its own speaker system, cameras, and even display embedded within the glasses lens. This system works in conjunction with the Neural Band, a wrist band that reads the electrical pulses from your wrist and fingers EMG (EMG - Electromyography), translating them into digital commands.
