RF-1 :
THE ADAPTIVE RANGEFINDER
“The golf rangefinder for everyone…”
RF-1 : WHO
This product was designed for the golfers who have limited movement.
Roughly, 10% of the golfing population suffer from a physical impairment, making it difficult to golf and use its resources.
Although, many suffer from birth from physical limitations, many impairments happen to those who are born with all limbs and conditions. Those who have been in accidents, wars, or even strokes, have suffered from loss of mobility.
The goal was to create something that adapts to the person, not the person adapting to a product.
“HOW DO YOU CREATE FOR ALL PERSONS..?”
You create a product that fits to everyone
WHAT IS A RANGE-FINDER?
A range-finder is the primary device for getting an accurate distance from the user and their target. Although, there are some ways to compensate for not having one, such as golf carts coming with GPS systems, it is not always accurate. Having a personal device will, almost, be a “no brainer” for serious players.
THE PROBLEM?
Stability is key to be a user of this product. The user must use both hands to accurately scan a target, to gather the information for the next shot.
“What if you are unable to keep it stable..? How do solve this problem..?”
RF-1 : SOLUTION
Changing it from a vertical orientation to horizontal, using facial features to create a design opportunity. To create stability with things that don’t require extra limbs.
Using something we all have, a nose
